Jongno District Relocates Temporary Office to The K Twin Towers

Procedures Underway for New District Office Construction
Aiming to Begin in 2027

Jongno District in Seoul (District Mayor: Chung Moonhun) completed the relocation of its temporary district office to The K Twin Towers (50 Jongno 1-gil) this month.

The K Twin Towers is located near the Daerim Building (42 Jongno 1-gil), which served as the temporary district office for the past four years and six months. Facing the expiration of the lease contract for the temporary office, the district reviewed various alternatives due to the high rental costs and the difficulty of securing large administrative spaces, given the central location in downtown Seoul.

Accordingly, to minimize inconvenience to residents and maintain administrative continuity, the district decided to relocate the temporary office to Building B of The K Twin Towers, which is close to the current temporary location. The relocation was carried out in phases starting in September, and to reduce costs, some departments were distributed to other locations.

As a result, the Urban Development Division, the Future City Promotion Division, and the Parking Management Division were moved to the annex of the Jongno District Office (41 Saemunan-ro), while the Smart Administration Division was relocated to the 94 Building (94 Sambong-ro) to ensure efficient use of space.

Meanwhile, the integrated Jongno District Office is planned to have a total floor area of 83,985.78 square meters, with six underground and sixteen above-ground floors. The district will request a bid from the Public Procurement Service in May next year, aiming to begin construction in 2027. The integrated office will house key administrative bodies such as the Jongno District Office, the district council, and the public health center, as well as the Seoul Metropolitan Fire & Disaster Headquarters, the Comprehensive Disaster Prevention Center, and the Jongno Fire Station. Additionally, complex cultural facilities such as a library and a music hall for residents are also planned.

Chung Moonhun, Mayor of Jongno District, stated, “We will provide better administrative services to residents from the new temporary office,” and added, “We will do our utmost to ensure that the new office construction project proceeds without delay.”
