Eum Eunjeong on Daejang-dong Appeal Withdrawal: "Anyone Should Have Been Prepared to Sign"

"No Intention to Debate Legitimacy of Order to Forgo Appeal"
"Wish There Had Been Such a Reaction When Yoon's Arrest Cancellation Was Decided"

Eum Eunjeong, Chief Prosecutor of the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office, stated on the 10th regarding the prosecution's decision to forgo an appeal in the Daejang-dong case, "If anyone at the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office, including the chief prosecutor, believed that an appeal was necessary, they should have been prepared to file a lawsuit to overturn any disciplinary action and simply signed and submitted the notice of appeal."

On her Facebook page that day, Chief Prosecutor Eum wrote, "For various reasons, I intended to refrain from posting for a while, but since so many people have asked, I will briefly share my position," expressing the above statement.

She added, "I have no intention of debating the legality or legitimacy of the order to forgo the appeal, but I cannot help but feel regret and disappointment, thinking how good it would have been if there had been such a reaction when former Prosecutor General Sim Ujeong decided not to file an immediate appeal regarding the cancellation of the arrest warrant for former President Yoon Sukyeol."
