Daegu City Council Member Yoon Kwongeun Criticizes Failure of Privately-Led Industrial Complex Rooftop Solar Project, Urges Solutions

Issues Raised at Daegu City Administrative Audit

The Economic and Environmental Committee of the Daegu City Council (Chairman Kim Jaeyong) strongly criticized the sluggish new technology policies of the Future Innovation Growth Office and the One-Stop Business Investment Center during the administrative audit held on November 7, urging the promotion of policies that can be tangibly felt by businesses and citizens.


Chairman Kim Jaeyong (People Power Party, Buk-gu District 3) strictly pointed out the downgrade in management evaluation grades and poor project implementation by Daegu Technopark and Daegu Digital Innovation Promotion Agency, which are affiliated organizations under the Future Innovation Growth Office. He called for a comprehensive review of the overall business status of these affiliated organizations. He also requested the distribution of electric two-wheeler chargers to implement the carbon neutrality policy and urged that policies to foster new regional industries should be made more tangible and beneficial to businesses on the ground.

Committee member Kwon Gihun (People Power Party, Dong-gu District 3) called for Daegu City to strengthen its strategic and aggressive promotional activities to attract the National Dental Research Institute. He sharply criticized the poor operation of the Daegu Street Motor Festival, which was held for the 14th time this year, and emphasized the need for more substantial management by expanding content to increase satisfaction among merchants and citizens.


Committee member Kim Taewoo (People Power Party, Suseong-gu District 5) pointed out the high vacancy rate at the Daegu Tech Biz Center and the poor performance in fostering the Daegu Research and Development Special Zone. He called for Daegu City to establish and implement more proactive policies to foster the special zone. In addition, he highlighted issues regarding the ownership of AI-based smart transportation system infrastructure and the reasons for changing agreements, requesting the development of efficient operational plans for the project.


Committee member Lee Taeson (People Power Party, Dalseo-gu District 4) strongly criticized Daegu City's poor management of business plans, citing the sharp decline in results from participating in CES for the ninth time, and demanded thorough preparation for future participation. He also urged sincere efforts to ensure that the Medical Health Eoullim Happiness Space project achieves substantial results.


Committee member Yoon Kwongeun (People Power Party, Dalseo-gu District 5) pointed out the failure of the privately-led industrial complex rooftop solar power project and called for solutions to address this issue. He also requested an increase in the installation rate of rapid chargers within the region's electric vehicle infrastructure, as well as the expansion of electric vehicle charging infrastructure for transportation-vulnerable groups.


Committee member Park Jongpil (People Power Party, Proportional Representation) pointed out the simultaneous decrease in the number of visitors and the number of overseas promotional booths at FIX, which was held for the second time this year, and requested continuous improvement in exhibition quality to develop it into a global exhibition. He also urged the city to identify the causes of poor performance in foreign medical tourism and to revitalize medical tourism with a mid- to long-term vision.
