Chungnam Province Ranks First Nationwide in Livestock Product Safety Management

Chungnam Province ranked first nationwide in the "2025 Livestock Product Safety Management Excellence Evaluation" conducted by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety. The province received high marks for its scientific management and prevention-oriented field administration across all stages of production and distribution, solidifying Chungnam's status as a leading region in livestock product safety management.

According to the province on November 9, this evaluation targeted 17 cities and provinces nationwide and assessed a total of five categories: safety management performance at each stage of livestock product production and distribution, prevention and management of illegal livestock products, and operation of honorary livestock product hygiene inspectors, among others.

The province achieved the highest performance rates in all categories, sharing the top overall ranking with Gyeongnam Province.

In particular, Chungnam demonstrated outstanding results in its systematic inspection system and on-site responsiveness throughout the entire livestock product safety management process.

The province has strengthened inspections of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) operations at livestock product processing companies and meat packaging facilities, and has established a rapid response system to immediately address complaints such as foreign substances or spoilage.

Additionally, the province received high marks for its capacity-building training for honorary livestock product hygiene inspectors, joint inspections at the distribution stage, and the establishment of a collaborative system with relevant agencies to block the distribution of illegal or substandard livestock products in the market.

Cho Sooil, Director of Animal Quarantine and Hygiene at the province, stated, "This achievement is the result of cooperation between the province and its 15 cities and counties," adding, "We will continue to create an environment where residents can consume livestock products with confidence through scientific and prevention-focused safety management."
