Collaboration Among Agencies and Higher Domestic Student Quota Needed
Saemangeum Development Corporation has unveiled a concrete plan to establish a foreign educational institution with a capacity of 540 students, ahead of the first land sale for the 'Saemangeum Smart Waterfront City.'
On November 7, Saemangeum Development Corporation announced that it had finalized its plan to establish the first foreign educational institution in North Jeolla Province, during the final briefing session for the 'Feasibility Study Enhancement for the Establishment of Foreign Educational Institutions in Saemangeum' held at its headquarters in Gunsan, North Jeolla Province.
The session was attended by officials from North Jeolla Special Self-Governing Province, the North Jeolla Provincial Office of Education, the Jeonbuk Research Institute, and the Saemangeum Development and Investment Agency, who shared the research findings and discussed the direction for implementation.
This project was undertaken to further detail the plan to establish a foreign educational institution in the waterfront city, led by the public sector.
According to the results from the Jeonbuk Research Institute, the school is planned to be an integrated institution from kindergarten through high school, with a total capacity of 540 students and an estimated total project cost of approximately 81.3 billion won.

The need for cooperation among related organizations was also highlighted, including the development of a joint promotion strategy with the province and a proposal to the provincial office of education to increase the proportion of domestic students.
Na Kyungkyun, President of Saemangeum Development Corporation, stated, "The Saemangeum foreign educational institution will serve as a key hub for nurturing global talent and is an essential facility for the development of both the waterfront city and North Jeolla Province. I hope that the province, the office of education, and other related organizations will provide unwavering policy and financial support in pursuit of our shared goal of regional development."
Based on the results of this study, Saemangeum Development Corporation plans to strengthen cooperation with relevant organizations, begin preparations for a public call for school foundations, and conduct a demand survey for project participation.
