On November 7, Kim Youngrok, Governor of Jeollanam-do, attended the 'Jeonnam 4-H Family Harmony Festival' held at the Yeonggwang Sportium National Sports Center, where he encouraged 4-H members, who represent the next generation of agriculture and rural communities, and reaffirmed a joint commitment to the 'Leap Forward as a Future Bioindustry for Jeonnam Agriculture.'
The 4-H Family Harmony Festival was organized to promote the holistic growth of youth and young adults, spread the 4-H philosophy, and foster 4-H members with creative thinking and sound character.
The event was attended by approximately 800 participants, including student, youth, and leader 4-H members; National Assembly members Lee Gaeho and Shin Jeonghun; Kim Kangheon, Chair of Yeonggwang County Council; Jeonnam Provincial Council members Kim Seongil and Oh Mihwa; Song Gwangmin, Deputy Mayor of Yeonggwang; heads of city and county agricultural technology centers; and principals of 4-H fostering schools. The event featured a pre-ceremony performance, an awards ceremony for outstanding members, a vision performance, the 6th Jeonnam 4-H Grand Prize ceremony, and various activities to promote communication and unity among members.
During the achievement-sharing segment, there were exhibitions of agricultural specialty products produced by young 4-H members, as well as displays of records highlighting the history of the 4-H movement.
Moon Hojin, President of the Korea 4-H Jeonnam Headquarters, stated, "The Jeonnam 4-H movement is a talent development organization that brings together school 4-H clubs, youth 4-H, and supporting leaders. Let us all unite our hearts to achieve our mission: 'To make good things better and learn through practice.'"
Governor Kim Youngrok remarked, "The 4-H movement is an educational initiative for youth and young adults that creates value in agriculture, the environment, and life itself, serving as a driving force for the development of agriculture and rural communities. I ask that you continue to take the lead in advancing Jeonnam agriculture as a future high-tech bioindustry through creative and convergent thinking, utilizing AI and big data in this era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution."
Currently, Jeonnam Province has over 7,500 4-H members who are safeguarding rural communities and working for the advancement of future agriculture and community service. In particular, young 4-H members have recently been leading the way in future agriculture by practicing smart farming.
