Announces Plan to Host KBO Regular Season Games in 2028
Promises Major Expansion of Baseball Infrastructure
On November 7, Mayor Shin Sangjin of Seongnam attended the opening ceremony of the 21st Seongnam Mayor's Cup Gyeonggi-do Elementary, Middle, and High School Baseball Tournament held at Tancheon Baseball Stadium, where he encouraged the baseball community and presented his vision for Seongnam as a baseball city.

The opening ceremony was attended by Mayor Shin Sangjin, city council members, the president of the Seongnam Sports Council, the president of the Seongnam Baseball Softball Association, as well as baseball officials, players, and parents.
In his welcoming remarks, Mayor Shin said, "I would like to express my gratitude and encouragement to all those who work hard for the development of baseball and to the players who train with passion."
He continued, "Seongnam is accelerating its efforts to become a leading baseball city. Next year, we will host a high school baseball championship to commemorate the construction of a professional baseball stadium, promoting Seongnam as the mecca of baseball."
He also explained, "We plan to remodel Seongnam Sports Complex into a 20,000-seat baseball stadium to host KBO regular season games starting in 2028. In addition, we are building a Little League baseball field for aspiring young players at Bundang Hwangsaeul Sports Park."
He emphasized, "From nurturing young talent to attracting professional games, we will make Seongnam the undisputed baseball hub of the metropolitan area."

This tournament will be held until November 12 at Tancheon, Baekhyeon, and Moran Baseball Stadiums, with 22 elementary, middle, and high school baseball teams from Gyeonggi-do and more than 1,500 players participating.
