"The Solution Lies in the Field"... Yeongju City and SBC Hold "On-Site Communication Meeting"

Seeking Solutions to Overcome Regional Extinction Risks and Revitalize Local SMEs

Yeongju City in North Gyeongsang Province has joined forces with the Small and Medium Business Corporation (SBC) to seek solutions for overcoming the risk of regional extinction and enabling a new leap forward for local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

On November 7, Yeongju City held an "On-Site Communication Meeting with the Small and Medium Business Corporation" in the City Hall’s first conference room, where participants discussed ways to restore the competitiveness of local companies and revitalize the regional economy.

Currently, 15 out of 23 cities and counties in North Gyeongsang Province are classified as areas at risk of population extinction. The recent wildfires in northern North Gyeongsang have further worsened the business environment for SMEs.

The meeting was attended by officials from Yeongju City, the Small and Medium Business Corporation, Andong City, the Gyeongbuk Economic Promotion Agency, and representatives from local SMEs such as Vitrosis, MNB Green Earth, and Seogung. Attendees exchanged a wide range of opinions, focusing on resolving labor shortages, fostering regionally specialized industries, and expanding export support.

The companies requested expanded policy funding, securing key personnel, and customized guidance on relevant systems. The Small and Medium Business Corporation introduced practical support programs such as workforce assistance, policy funding, and management consulting, opening the door for further communication.

Kim Myungja, Director of Corporate Support at the Small and Medium Business Corporation, stated, "We will actively reflect voices from the field and strengthen our support so that SMEs in North Gyeongsang's at-risk areas can grow into leading regional companies."

Yeongju City plans to use this meeting as an opportunity to strengthen its cooperation network with related organizations and to continuously discover and expand tailored support policies that meet on-site needs.
