According to the county on November 7, biological terrorism refers to the deliberate release of viruses, bacteria, or toxins to cause fatalities or diseases and create social chaos. Since even a small amount can be fatal, a swift initial response is crucial.
This exercise involved more than 50 participants, including officials from the Health and Medical Center, the Infectious Disease Management Division of North Jeolla Province, Sunchang Police Station, Sunchang Fire Station, and the Safety and Disaster Division. The focus was on reviewing the cooperative system among related agencies in the event of biological terrorism and strengthening initial response capabilities.
The main components of the exercise included theoretical training on the biological terrorism response system, hands-on practice in donning and doffing personal protective equipment, and practice using multi-detection kits and transporting samples.
On Gi-gon, Director of the Health and Medical Center, stated, "This exercise was an important real-world check to prepare for the possibility of biological terrorism," adding, "It provided a valuable opportunity to systematically review the roles the Health and Medical Center must fulfill in crisis situations and to strengthen cooperation with related agencies."
