Practicing Love for the Community through the Hometown Love Donation
Delivering Warmth to the Free Meal Center for People with Disabilities
On November 7, Changwon Special City in South Gyeongsang Province announced that Jin Haeseong, a popular trot singer from Jinhae, donated 5 million won to the “Navy Personnel Support Project,” a designated donation program under the “Hometown Love Donation System.” Additionally, he re-donated 1.5 million won worth of locally produced rice, received as a thank-you gift, to a free meal center for people with disabilities in Changwon.
Jin Haeseong is a singer who deeply loves his hometown, so much so that he uses “Jinhae” as his stage name. Known as the “successor of authentic trot” thanks to his rich emotions and strong vocal skills, he has built a wide fan base.
Recently, he has been actively promoting new songs such as “Resentful Years” and “My Love Kyunga,” and has consistently participated in social contribution activities alongside his music career.
This donation is being recognized as a positive example of the virtuous cycle of sharing through the Hometown Love Donation System. The donated funds will be used for the Navy Personnel Support Project, and the rice received as a thank-you gift will be delivered to the free meal center for people with disabilities, providing valuable meal support for vulnerable groups.
Singer Jin Haeseong stated, “Jinhae is the root of my name and the starting point of my music. I want to contribute, even in a small way, to making my hometown a warmer and more vibrant city. I will continue to share for Changwon and strive to be a singer who gives strength to citizens through my songs.”
The “Hometown Love Donation System” allows individuals to donate a certain amount to the local government of their hometown or a place they consider their hometown, receiving tax benefits and thank-you gifts such as local specialties in return. Changwon Special City is using this system to promote regional development and mutual prosperity, and it is regarded as a successful case nationwide.
Thanks to Jin Haeseong’s donation, Changwon City was able to use locally produced rice for sharing, which not only provided material support but also helped boost the local economy. The re-donated rice will be delivered to the Changwon free meal center for people with disabilities in November.
Jang Geumyong, Acting Mayor of Changwon Special City, said, “Jin Haeseong’s warm-hearted donation as a native of Jinhae is a great support to our community. I sincerely thank him for personally practicing love for his hometown. I hope this culture of sharing will spread throughout the local community.”
