A man in his 60s has been arrested and referred for prosecution after fatally stabbing an acquaintance with a weapon during a drunken argument.


Yangsan Police Station in Gyeongnam announced on the 7th that they had urgently apprehended and detained a man in his 60s, identified as Mr. A, and referred him for prosecution.


According to police, Mr. A is accused of stabbing and killing his acquaintance, Mr. B, also in his 60s, multiple times with a broken liquor bottle during a dispute while drinking together at a guesthouse in Bukbu-dong, Yangsan, at around 9 p.m. on October 30.


Responding to a report from the guesthouse owner, police apprehended Mr. A at his home at 10:48 a.m. on the 31st.


Mr. A was reportedly heavily intoxicated at the time and admitted to the charges.


He stated, "I lent Mr. B about 2 million won in small amounts over two years, but he did not pay me back, which led to the argument."


The two are reported to have first met 20 years ago at an alcohol addiction treatment hospital in Yangsan.


Based on Mr. A's testimony, forensic examination of the scene, and an autopsy, police detained Mr. A on murder charges and referred him to the prosecution on the 6th.
