Bucheon City in Gyeonggi Province announced on November 7 that it has designated 129 daycare centers as "Open Daycare Centers."
The city recently held a selection committee for Open Daycare Centers, conducting document reviews and on-site inspections based on four criteria: openness, participation, diversity, and local government standards. As a result, 16 new centers and 113 reselected centers were chosen, totaling 129 centers.
The Open Daycare Center initiative is designated annually to create a transparent and healthy childcare environment by opening up facilities and expanding parental participation, so that parents can feel assured about the care environment.

Bucheon City has designated 65.5% of all daycare centers as Open Daycare Centers, significantly surpassing the Ministry of Education's target of 40%. Daycare centers that are reselected every three years are monitored annually to ensure compliance with requirements.
A Bucheon City official stated, "We will continue to expand the Open Daycare Center initiative and pursue ongoing quality improvements to create an environment where parents can feel at ease," adding, "We will also work to further promote an open childcare culture where parents and daycare centers collaborate."
