The "2025 University Student Smart e-Mobility Competition" is a nationwide electric vehicle self-made car competition for university students, jointly hosted by Jeollanam-do, Yeonggwang-gun, the Korean Society of Automotive Engineers (KSAE), and the Korea Automotive Technology Institute (KATECH). This year, the event took place in Yeonggwang-gun, Jeollanam-do from October 24 to 26, with more than 1,000 students from 53 teams across the country participating.

The FULL ACCEL team from the University of Seoul, supervised by Professor Na Youngseung, ranked third in the driving performance category, first in both the first and second rounds of the endurance category, and second in the finals, earning a total of 890 points to win the overall Gold Prize in the EV category (Governor of Jeollanam-do Award, prize money of 3 million KRW). Additionally, the team received the Best Award in the Fuel Efficiency Competition (prize money of 1.5 million KRW), bringing their total prize winnings to 4.5 million KRW.

The FULL ACCEL team achieved fast and agile driving performance by implementing a lightweight chassis, an aerodynamically designed cowl, and in-wheel motors. In particular, they precisely designed the suspension, brake, and steering systems, which are key to cornering performance, and significantly improved driving stability through their self-developed in-wheel motor control system, enabling them to tackle corners faster and more stably than other teams.

Team leader Ryu Hyungseok (Class of 2021, Department of Mechanical and Information Engineering) shared, "By thoroughly analyzing and improving the issues identified in the previous competition, we were able to achieve the valuable results of winning both the Gold Prize and the Best Award this year. I want to share this joy with my teammates who worked hard together."

This competition participation was supported by the University of Seoul’s academic research fund, Naesional System, Daelim Enterprise, JB POWERTEC, the Creative Convergence Engineering Talent Development Program of the Center for Engineering Education Innovation, and the Excellent Student Society Support Program of the University Innovation Support Project.
