"Optimizing Film Editing by Reading Audience Brainwaves and Blood Flow"[K, to Hollywood]

Highstranger Achieves 90% Accuracy in Multimodal Emotion Analysis
Poised for LA Expansion After Berlin Film Festival Recognition

"Optimizing Film Editing by Reading Audience Brainwaves and Blood Flow"[K, to Hollywood] Dongguk Kim, CEO of Highstranger

"Data is not a yardstick for creation, but a compass." On November 6 (local time), Dongguk Kim, CEO of Highstranger, attracted significant attention at 'U-KNOCK 2025 in USA' hosted by the Korea Creative Content Agency at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in Los Angeles, for his company's emotion data-based content analysis technology.

The so-called "multi-signal emotion artificial intelligence (AI)" simultaneously reads viewers' EEG (electroencephalogram), PPG (photoplethysmogram), and facial expression recognition (FER) to measure responses to content. The accuracy of single-signal analysis is 60-75%, whereas multi-signal analysis achieves over 85-90% accuracy.

The company aims for over 95% accuracy by utilizing a variety of detailed signals. It is already demonstrating outstanding performance in recognizing complex emotional states such as "immersion" and "tension."

The secret lies in "INSIGHT FLOW." This system collects and analyzes viewers' real-time biometric response data to content and visualizes it as an emotional curve. Production companies can use this to clearly identify audience engagement points or moments of disengagement during test screenings and similar events.

Kim stated, "During post-production, we can finely adjust scene length, music timing, and cut composition to maximize the value of the content."

This year, Highstranger's emotion data solution was recognized for its potential in the global film market. It became the first Korean company to be selected as an EFM startup at the Berlin International Film Festival.

Some have expressed concerns that content analysis based on emotion data could hinder creators' artistic freedom. Kim responded, "If the creator's emotions and intuition are the essence of a work, data is a window for understanding the audience's emotions." He added, "Emotion analysis does not 'restrict' the direction of a work, but rather opens up more possibilities for empathy."

In fact, Hollywood production companies have recently adopted systems such as test screenings, focus groups, and A/B testing. Highstranger is taking this a step further.

"This is not a system that relies on 'conscious feedback' like surveys or interviews. It measures unconscious emotional responses in real time. It is a true innovation that breaks the existing mold."
