On November 6, the Seoul Gangnam Police Station announced that it had referred Mr. A, a man in his 30s, to the prosecution in custody on charges of drunk driving and causing death by dangerous driving under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Crimes.

According to the police, Mr. A is accused of hitting two pedestrians while driving under the influence at an intersection in Nonhyeon-dong, Gangnam District, at around 9:40 p.m. on October 25.

As a result of this accident, a Canadian man in his 30s was transported to the hospital in cardiac arrest and ultimately died, while a Korean woman in her 20s reportedly sustained serious injuries.

The police also plan to refer a male passenger in his 30s, who did not stop Mr. A from driving under the influence, to the prosecution without detention on charges of aiding and abetting drunk driving.
