Buyeo County Breaks Ground on "Seodongyo Historical Tourism Site Hanok Pension," Accelerating Stay-Type Tourism Perspective View of Hanok Pension

Buyeo County in South Chungcheong Province has launched the "Hanok Pension Development Project" to strengthen the stay-type tourism infrastructure at the Seodongyo Historical Tourism Site.

The county plans to invest 12 billion won to construct Hanok-style pensions and retail facilities, aiming to revitalize local tourism and create a turning point for economic recovery in the southern region.

The county announced on November 6 that it held a groundbreaking ceremony for the "Seodongyo Historical Tourism Site Hanok Pension Development Project" in the Gahwa-ri area of Chunghwa-myeon on November 4, officially commencing construction.

This project has been promoted since it was selected as the first phase of the second stage of the Balanced Regional Development Project by South Chungcheong Province in 2020. With a total investment of 12 billion won, the project will establish Hanok pensions, a management building, local retail facilities, and storage spaces.

The Hanok pensions are scheduled for completion in October 2026, and are expected to address the shortage of accommodation infrastructure at the Seodongyo Historical Tourism Site, thereby promoting stay-type tourism for visitors.

Through this project, the county aims to enhance the tourism competitiveness of the Seodongyo Theme Park and, by linking it with specialized local tourism content, elevate the area into a core tourist destination in the southern region.

Park Junghyun, the county governor, stated, "The Seodongyo Historical Tourism Site is a space that symbolizes Buyeo's historical and cultural identity. By developing Hanok pensions, we will invigorate the local economy and establish a sustainable tourism ecosystem."
