Sinseo Healing Stay Opens in Sinseo-myeon, Yeoncheon County on the 5th

The "Sinseo Healing Stay" in Yeoncheon County, Gyeonggi Province, opened its doors on November 5.

Sinseo Healing Stay is located at 273-40, Dosin-ri, Sinseo-myeon, Yeoncheon County. It is a remodeled space that used to be the old Jinju Bathhouse, and is open to all generations, including children, teenagers, military personnel, and seniors.

On the first floor, there is Dosin Maru, which provides a rest area for local residents and lockers for personal items and clothing for soldiers on leave or overnight stays. The facility also operates an energy-independent bathhouse equipped with solar collectors and waste heat recovery systems. The second floor offers accommodation facilities for tourists visiting Sinseo-myeon, military personnel, and their families. The facilities will be operated on a trial basis by a residents' cooperative.

In addition to Sinseo Healing Stay, Gyeonggi Province is also promoting projects to revitalize the local commercial district, such as operating local festivals and consulting for the development of signature menus. Through these efforts, the province expects to encourage continued visits and stays by military families and tourists, thereby making a tangible contribution to the recovery of the stagnant local economy.

Sinseo-myeon in Yeoncheon County is one of the most severely depopulated areas in Gyeonggi Province. With the population steadily declining and the rapid downturn of the local commercial district catering to military personnel, vacant stores and abandoned houses have begun to appear, making comprehensive urban regeneration measures necessary to restore local vitality. After selecting Sinseo-myeon as the site for the 2023 Gyeonggi The Dream Regeneration Project, Gyeonggi Province has been implementing capacity-building projects for urban regeneration and commercial district revitalization, including Sinseo Healing Stay, operating Sinseo local festivals, developing local signature menus, and fostering local creators.

Ahn Seonghyeon, Director of Urban Regeneration at Gyeonggi Province, stated, "Sinseo Healing Stay will become a model case of urban regeneration by utilizing idle spaces left unattended in the old downtown. We will actively support the project so that it can drive real change and outcomes that residents can truly feel, based on the unique assets of the region."
