A man presumed to be Korean caused a disturbance inside a taxi in Jakarta, Indonesia. TikTok capture
According to Indonesian media outlets such as Sindonews, on October 30 (local time), a man believed to be Korean caused a commotion inside a taxi passing near the Antasari overpass in southern Jakarta. The incident was fully captured on the taxi's black box camera.
As the taxi remained stationary for an extended period due to severe traffic congestion caused by heavy rain, the man lost his temper, shouting and throwing his mobile phone. He even lay down on the back seat, kicked the taxi ceiling, and struck the driver's area. Footage also captured him swearing in Korean. At one point, he urinated into a water bottle, claiming he urgently needed to relieve himself.
The video of the man's rampage spread rapidly through social networking services (SNS) such as TikTok, fueling controversy. Local internet users commented, "Even though Jakarta's traffic is terrible, this reaction is excessive," "How can someone behave like this in another person's car? Isn't he ashamed?" and "It's scary. The driver is very patient."
However, the man's disruptive behavior did not stop there. Two days later, on November 1 (local time), he was again caught on video committing acts of violence at a Korean restaurant in Jakarta.
According to local media, wearing the same clothes, he visited the restaurant, broke dishes and plates, and assaulted an employee who tried to stop him. Enraged by the staff's attempts to restrain him, he smashed a rice cooker and vomited up the food he had eaten. In the end, it was reported that a security guard and the Korean owner present at the restaurant subdued him.
Local media reported that, regarding this incident, both the local police and the Korean Embassy in Indonesia have not yet released an official statement.
