Korea-China Research Institutes Sign Agreement
Eco-Friendly, Low-Carbon Public Transportation Policies and Professional Exchange to Accelerate
The Chungnam Institute has partnered with Shijiazhuang Tiedao University in China (President Qi Xiwei) to launch international research collaboration aimed at future-oriented public transportation and smart mobility innovation. This initiative is intended to respond to the rapidly changing global transportation environment and to strengthen citizen-centered, eco-friendly, and low-carbon transportation policies in Chungnam Province.
At the signing ceremony held at the institute on November 5, the two organizations agreed to establish a comprehensive cooperation framework that includes conducting joint research projects, co-hosting international academic seminars, exchanging professional personnel, and developing international education programs.
Jeon Heekyung, President of the Chungnam Institute, stated, "Shijiazhuang Tiedao University is a leading educational institution for transportation policy in China. This agreement will serve as an important turning point for transportation innovation in the era of smart mobility."
In addition, the institute hosted a Korea-China-Japan international seminar on the theme of 'The Role of Public Transportation in Promoting Mobility.'
The seminar featured presentations on regional public transportation revitalization and eco-friendly, carbon-inclusive policies by Professor Kang Xuejian of Shijiazhuang Tiedao University, Professor Makoto Chikaraishi of Hiroshima University, and Professor Hong Seonghyo of Kongju National University.
The discussion session was moderated by Dr. Lee Baekjin of the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, and included participation from Jung Jongpil, public transportation officer at Chungnam Province; Dr. Lee Jeongbeom of the Daejeon Institute; Dr. Jeong Yongil of the Chungbuk Research Institute; and Dr. An Yongjun of the Sejong Institute for Lifelong Education Policy, who discussed directions for future-oriented public transportation innovation tailored to Chungnam Province.
Dr. Kim Woncheol of the Chungnam Institute remarked, "By sharing research findings and policy ideas from transportation experts in Korea, China, and Japan, this seminar will contribute to improving transportation welfare for Chungnam residents and to the establishment of sustainable transportation policies."
