Gifts Sent to 4,300 Employees This Year
A 21-Year Tradition Since 2004
"CSAT Is the Key to Unlocking Possibilities"
With the 2026 College Scholastic Ability Test (CSAT) just eight days away, Seungyun Kim, Chairman of Hanwha Group, has once again sent gifts and letters of encouragement to group employees and their children preparing for the exam. Chairman Kim has been sending gifts and letters of encouragement to employees' children for 21 consecutive years since 2004.

According to Hanwha Group and other sources on November 5, Chairman Kim delivered specially ordered and prepared exam success snack sets from the Plaza Hotel bakery, Boulangerie, to approximately 4,300 examinees among Hanwha Group families on November 4.
Since 2004, Chairman Kim has sent gifts and letters of encouragement to employees' children for 21 years, with the total number of recipients reaching as many as 80,000. This tradition reflects his personal belief that "the happiness of employees and their families is important."
The snack gifts included a handwritten letter of encouragement from Chairman Kim himself, titled "Wishing You Success on the College Scholastic Ability Test!" In his letter, he wrote, "I want to acknowledge the hard work of Hanwha family examinees who have prepared for the CSAT for such a long time," and added, "Although the path has not been easy, every step you have taken without giving up is already a valuable achievement."

He continued, "Just as trees become stronger after withstanding wind and rain, the challenging exam preparation period will serve as nourishment for your growth into greater individuals," and added, "The strength gained will help you confidently face the challenges of the world ahead." He also wrote, "The CSAT is not a barrier or a shortcut, but a key that opens the door to possibilities. I hope you will not stop challenging yourself until the very last moment and will boldly open the door to a bright future."
Chairman Kim has communicated with employees through letters and other means. In 2007, he provided leave and financial support to 'goose fathers'-employees who remained in Korea while their wives and children studied abroad-so they could reunite with their families. During the COVID-19 pandemic, he sent letters and flowers wishing for the recovery of employees infected with COVID-19, and in 2022, he sent letters of encouragement to employees who contributed to the Nuri rocket project, celebrating their hard work.
