On November 5, Pyeongtaek City announced that, as part of the Pyeongtaek Station Complex Cultural Plaza project, construction at the Pyeongtaek Station Ogori intersection will commence in the middle of this month. This project aims to connect the plaza with a pedestrian-only street, and to build an underground walkway and an underground parking lot with a capacity of 201 spaces.

The Complex Cultural Plaza project is an urban regeneration initiative with a total investment of 80.8 billion won by the city. The plan is to transform a 12,000-square-meter area in front of Pyeongtaek Station into a landmark complex cultural plaza, and to designate a 200-meter section from the station plaza to Parkae Hospital as a pedestrian-only street.

The new plaza will become an open cultural space featuring an outdoor performance hall and green resting areas. At the center of the plaza, a "Grand Arcade" with flowing water will be created, along with the installation of a media wall and landscape lighting. The city aims to complete the project by next year.

During construction, some lanes around the Pyeongtaek Station Ogori intersection will be temporarily altered or closed. The city plans to operate temporary roads and controlled areas flexibly according to each phase of the project to minimize traffic congestion during this period.

A city official requested, "Since traffic congestion is expected due to this construction, we ask citizens to use detour routes whenever possible."

Pyeongtaek Mayor Jung Jangsun stated, "The development of the Pyeongtaek Station Complex Cultural Plaza is a project to transform the previously chaotic and congested area around Pyeongtaek Station into an open, citizen-centered space," adding, "We will do our utmost to complete the construction as quickly and safely as possible."
