Hampyeong County in Jeollanam-do is drawing attention with its 'Blue Workation,' a new regional tourism model that combines tourism and work.

According to Hampyeong County on November 5, the 'Blue Workation' is a residency program designed for office workers and freelancers, held in the Dolmeori Beach area-one of Jeollanam-do's premier marine wellness tourism destinations. The program allows participants to work and relax in the same space. It is notable for simultaneously promoting workers' health by reducing stress and improving work efficiency, while also revitalizing the local economy and expanding residency-based tourism for mutual benefit.

Participants only need to pay a set participation fee to receive accommodation and workspace support. In addition, they can enjoy a variety of marine wellness programs-such as Dolmeori seawater spa and mudflat experiences-worth between 200,000 and 600,000 won per person, free of charge. This has made the program especially popular among office workers.

By linking with year-round festival content, such as the '2025 Korea Chrysanthemum Festival' held until November 9 and the 'Hampyeong Winter Light Festival' scheduled to open on November 28, participants can also enjoy a range of programs including local agricultural specialty product exhibitions, chrysanthemum displays, and nighttime scenic views. This offers participants an opportunity to relieve work fatigue and experience the region's signature culture and spirit.
