Mastery in Both Technique and Storytelling: Dongseo University Visual Animation Students Win Grand Prize at 2025 BICAF

Seven Students Collaborate on Award-Winning Animation "Jitter Loop"

Students from the Department of Visual Animation at Dongseo University (President: Jang Jeguk) have won the Grand Prize, the highest honor, at the 21st Busan International Character & Animation Festival (2025 BICAF).


On November 5, Dongseo University announced that seven students from the Department of Visual Animation jointly produced the animation "Jitter Loop," which was awarded the Grand Prize at this year's festival. The winning students are Kim Dongsu, Jeon Changsu, Yoon Myungin, Lee Sunjin, Park Sungeun, Kim Jinmo, and Yang Sungwon.


"Jitter Loop," which received the overall Grand Prize, was highly praised by the judges for both its technical excellence and solid storytelling. Out of a fiercely competitive pool of 211 entries-including 142 animations and 69 character works, both domestic and international-the best works were selected.

The winning students shared, "We are deeply moved that the countless hours we spent together in the studio have resulted in such a significant achievement. We focused not only on technical perfection but also dedicated ourselves to storytelling, and we are happy that our efforts have been recognized." They also expressed their ambition to create works that move the hearts of audiences.


In addition to the Grand Prize, the Department of Visual Animation at Dongseo University demonstrated its capabilities by winning the Excellence Award in the Character category, the Encouragement Award in the Animation category, the Encouragement Award in the Character category, as well as Special Selections in both the Animation and Character categories.


Choi Donghyuk, head of the Department of Visual Animation at Dongseo University, stated, "This achievement is the result of the students' outstanding creativity, technical skills, and teamwork. We will continue to focus on nurturing talent to lead K-animation through practical, industry-focused education and systematic support."


BICAF is an event organized by the BICAF Organizing Committee and co-hosted by the HUSS (Global K-Culture Convergence Talent Development Project Group), the Busan Gyeongsang University RISE Project Group, and others.
