LS Mtron Demonstrates Tractor with Autonomous Obstacle Avoidance for the First Time

Participation and Demonstration at the Iksan Agricultural Machinery Expo
Showcasing the Full Lineup of Autonomous Work Tractors
From Straight-Line Assistance to Obstacle Detection and Avoidance

LS Mtron, the industrial machinery and advanced components specialist of LS Group, announced on November 5 that it is participating in the "2025 Iksan Agricultural Machinery Expo," held from November 4 to 7 at the Agricultural and Marine Products Wholesale Market in Iksan, North Jeolla Province.

The 2025 Iksan Agricultural Machinery Expo is an event organized to revitalize the domestic agricultural machinery and equipment industry and to establish a foundation for overseas exports. Around 200 companies are participating, showcasing a variety of advanced agricultural machinery and equipment, including autonomous work tractors, in an exhibition space of approximately 18,000 square meters.

Since LS Mtron first commercialized autonomous work tractors in Korea in 2021, the company has continued to advance its autonomous operation technology in stages. At this expo, LS Mtron demonstrated the "obstacle avoidance technology," which has been further developed from the previously introduced obstacle detection technology and is being showcased for the first time in Korea. This technology enables the tractor to automatically recognize obstacles during operation, calculate the turning radius, and set and follow a detour route without any manual intervention. As a result, the tractor can perform continuous operations without operator involvement. This significantly reduces operator fatigue while simultaneously improving work efficiency and safety.

At this expo, LS Mtron also unveiled the new "MT9 Powershuttle" model of its MT9, the highest-horsepower tractor in Korea. The MT9 Powershuttle offers the powerful performance of a large tractor at a more reasonable price, providing a new option for farmers seeking both practicality and cost-effectiveness.

In addition, LS Mtron showcased its entire lineup of autonomous work tractors, from the 46-horsepower "XU Tractor" to the highest-horsepower "MT9 Tractor" in Korea. The exhibition was organized to allow visitors to see the full spectrum of autonomous operation technology at a glance, from Level 1, which enables straight-line driving, to Level 3.5, which features core technologies for fully unmanned tractors, such as obstacle detection and avoidance functions.

Lee Sangmin, Executive Director and Head of the Tractor Business Division at LS Mtron, stated, "The obstacle avoidance technology, introduced for the first time in Korea, is a core function for realizing the era of unmanned tractors and forms the foundation of autonomous operation. We will continue to advance autonomous operation technology to enhance both convenience and productivity for farmers, leading the advanced agricultural machinery market."
