Goyang Special City in Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Lee Donghwan) announced on November 5 that it had signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the 60th Infantry Division (Commander Lee Myungchul) on November 4 at the Open Mayor's Office in City Hall to strengthen the local security posture.

The purpose of this agreement is to solidify the mutual cooperation system between the local government and the military, establish an integrated defense posture in both peacetime and wartime, and lay the foundation for a swift and systematic response in the event of a crisis.


Mayor Lee Donghwan of Goyang Special City and Commander Lee Myungchul of the 60th Infantry Division attended the signing ceremony. The two organizations agreed to cooperate in various fields, including regional defense, training and information sharing, and support for facilities and equipment.


In particular, Goyang Special City will support the division in carrying out integrated defense operations and unit management, while the 60th Infantry Division will actively support the city's security maintenance, disaster and safety response, and local government-military cooperation activities. Both organizations plan to further strengthen a practical cooperation system based on mutual trust and friendly collaboration.


Mayor Lee Donghwan stated, "This agreement is a meaningful opportunity to further solidify local security," adding, "The local government and the military will build a strong Goyang City where citizens can feel safe, based on mutual trust and cooperation."


Meanwhile, Goyang Special City is continuously strengthening its cooperation system involving the public, private sector, military, police, and fire departments through the operation of the Integrated Defense Council and the Ulchi Exercise, and is pursuing various policies to enhance the region's integrated defense capabilities.
