Gyeonggi Province to Host 'Kimchi Festa' at Suwon Convention Center on November 9

Gyeonggi Province will host the '2025 Gyeonggi Kimchi Festa' at Exhibition Hall 1 of Suwon Convention Center on November 9.


This event has been organized to promote the excellence of agricultural products from Gyeonggi Province and to encourage kimchi consumption. It features a variety of programs that citizens can enjoy and experience together.


Main events include the National Kimchi Contest, Kimjang Sharing Event, Unique Kimchi Experience Exhibition, Kimchi Pizza Experience for Children, Master Kimchi Sales Exhibition, Traditional Liquor Sales Exhibition, and Agricultural Specialty Product Sales Exhibition.


The National Kimchi Contest aims to discover unique kimchi varieties made with agricultural products from Gyeonggi Province. Finalists who have passed the preliminary round will present their own original kimchi creations in a heated competition.


The Kimjang Sharing Event allows participants to make kimchi themselves, take home 2 kilograms, and donate 5 kilograms. Participation is available through on-site registration on the day of the event.

The Unique Kimchi Experience Exhibition offers hands-on activities to make kimchi from Gyeonggi Province as well as the Jeolla, Gangwon, and Chungcheong regions. For children, there will be a Kimchi Baguette Pizza making program to help them become more familiar with kimchi and enjoy it in a delicious way.


There will also be events for visitors. The first 700 people will receive a 2,000 KRW discount coupon that can be used at the venue. Pre-registered guests and those who participate in surveys will receive cabbage and green onion plush keyring goods. In addition, the first 500 people will have the opportunity to sample dishes such as boiled pork, tofu with kimchi, and mini rice balls made with agricultural and livestock products from Gyeonggi Province.


Meanwhile, at the 'Opportunity Market' inside the venue, companies specializing in traditional liquor and agricultural specialty products from Gyeonggi Province will participate and offer a variety of products for sale. A 30% discount event will also be held, where customers who spend 30,000 KRW will receive a 10,000 KRW discount coupon.


Bae Soyoung, Director of the Agricultural and Food Distribution Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, "Through this Gyeonggi Kimchi Festa, we aim to shed new light on kimchi, a representative K-food, and strive to expand the consumption of Gyeonggi agricultural products and increase the income of local farmers."
