More than 800 people attended the event, including Lee Gijae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, Oh Sehoon, Mayor of Seoul, local members of the National Assembly, city and district council members, and residents. They participated in the announcement of detailed development plans and a celebratory ceremony.

This project is a large-scale urban development initiative on a 104,000-square-meter site. It has begun construction nine years after the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport designated it as a pilot urban high-tech logistics complex project in 2016. The project operator, Seobu T&D Co., Ltd., aims to complete the project by 2030, modernizing the aging logistics facilities and creating a future-oriented logistics hub that combines residential, commercial, and business functions.

The complex will feature a state-of-the-art logistics center ranging from seven underground to fifteen above-ground floors, a large integrated shopping mall, officetels, and public facilities. The supporting facilities will include 997 residential units, offices, and neighborhood amenities, with buildings ranging from five underground to twenty-five above-ground floors.

Additionally, to enhance resident convenience and welfare, the ‘Sinjeong Sports Center’ will also be established. The Sinjeong Sports Center will be operated as a public sports facility accessible to all residents, featuring various recreational spaces such as a swimming pool, fitness center, indoor tennis court, bowling alley, and screen golf facilities.

Yangcheon District plans to use the construction of this sports center to expand the insufficient sports infrastructure in the area, promote residents’ health, and vitalize the local economy.

Lee Gijae, Mayor of Yangcheon District, stated, “The Western Truck Terminal is Seoul’s first case of urban high-tech logistics complex development. Although there were administrative challenges such as project approval, this event was made possible thanks to the comprehensive support from the Mayor of Seoul, members of the National Assembly, and city council members. As the edge and the new beginning of Yangcheon District, and as a place bordering Bucheon and Guro, we will do our utmost to establish this area as a local landmark where advanced industries, culture, and transportation converge.”
