Lee Jangwoo, Mayor of Daejeon, stated, "Dong-gu is like my hometown at heart and was the starting point of Daejeon, the 'city of pioneers.' Moving forward, we will steadily promote key projects in Dong-gu, such as the creation of the Daejeon Mega Chungcheong Square, the establishment of Daejeon Medical Center, the development of the Daecheong Lake Rose Park, and the construction of the Samjeong District Industrial Complex. Through these efforts, we will drive both the revitalization of Dong-gu and the advancement of Daejeon as a whole. I ask for the active interest and support of Dong-gu residents as well."

On November 4, as his final visit to a district this year, Mayor Lee visited Dong-gu and met with around 400 residents. During this time of communication, he said, "I promise unwavering support to resolve long-standing resident issues and to ensure the smooth implementation of key projects in Dong-gu," reiterating his commitment.

Regarding the request for support for the Hyodong Public Parking Lot project, which was raised by Park Heejo, head of Dong-gu, Mayor Lee emphasized, "The area around the Hyodong Administrative Welfare Center and nearby commercial districts has a very high demand for parking, making the construction of a public parking lot urgent to resolve parking difficulties. The city will actively work to include the necessary budget so that the parking lot can be built as soon as possible."

Regarding the request for budget support for the construction of the Daejeon-style Integrated Health and Welfare Hub Center, Mayor Lee said, "This project is the first of its kind in the nation, aiming to provide future-oriented welfare services not only for Dong-gu but for all citizens of Daejeon. We will review ways to support design costs through the third supplementary budget in 2025 to ensure the project can proceed quickly."

In the ensuing dialogue with residents, various local issues were discussed, including the improvement of the Daejeoncheon Pedestrian Bridge, the creation of a buffer greenbelt walking trail, the paving project for Heungjin Hanteo, and the enhancement of the Dong-gu Veterans Center's functions.

Regarding the request for improvement of the Daejeoncheon Pedestrian Bridge, Mayor Lee explained that the deck pedestrian bridge in Nangwol-dong has become severely deteriorated due to repeated flooding during the rainy season each year, and frequent damage poses a threat to pedestrian safety. He responded that the city would provide 300 million won to address the issue promptly.

Regarding the request for the creation of a buffer greenbelt walking trail, Mayor Lee noted that interest in barefoot walking has recently increased, leading to greater demand for barefoot trails. He said that the area around 657, Gao-dong, Dong-gu, is a location with high usage demand and excellent accessibility. Establishing a walking trail there is expected to greatly contribute to residents' health, and the city will actively support the project with 300 million won.

In response to the request for the paving project at Heungjin Hanteo, Mayor Lee explained that Heungjin Hanteo is a scenic section of the Daecheong Lake 500-ri Trail, attracting many tourists. However, the temporarily graveled parking lot has caused inconvenience for residents. He responded that the city would actively support the project with 400 million won to resolve the issue promptly.

Regarding the request to enhance the functions of the Dong-gu Veterans Center, Mayor Lee noted that the center is used by members of nine veterans organizations as well as local residents. He stated that the city would actively review the necessary budget support to ensure that veterans and their families can safely use the facilities, thereby concluding the dialogue with citizens.

Meanwhile, the district visits, which began in Jung-gu on October 1, have served as a platform to share major policies from the third year of the 8th popularly elected administration and to realize open governance through candid conversations with citizens. The visits concluded successfully with the visit to Dong-gu.
