Mayor Jung Myunggeun: "With the Advisory Group, We Will Create an AI Basic City That Citizens Can Truly Experience"
Hwaseong City in Gyeonggi Province has launched a large-scale advisory group composed of experts, aiming to transition all sectors of the city to artificial intelligence.
On November 4, Hwaseong City held the appointment ceremony for the 'Hwaseong Special City AI Advisory Group' at the main conference room of the Dongtan Branch Office.

The newly established advisory group will identify actionable tasks for the city's transition to an AI Basic City and the AI transformation of its key industries, as well as systematically support policy implementation and management.
The advisory group consists of a total of 37 experts from various fields. Professor Kim Hyunsoo of Dankook University serves as the chair, while Kim Sunwoo, a member of the National Artificial Intelligence Strategy Committee, is the vice chair. The group is organized into four subcommittees: Urban AI, Industrial AI, Technology & Data, and Talent & Governance.
Key figures such as Ahn Sanggyo, Chairman of the Hwaseong Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Park Cheolsoo, President of the Hwaseong Institute; and Jeon Byeongseon, President of the Hwaseong Industry Promotion Agency, are also participating to provide advice tailored to the city's circumstances and current issues.
During the event, Chair Kim delivered a presentation on "AI Transformation and the New Vision for Future Cities." Lee Sewon, Associate Research Fellow at the Spatial Information Policy Research Center of the Korea Research Institute for Human Settlements, spoke on "Policy Directions and Tasks for Implementing K-AI City," and Choi Woojeong, Head of the Disaster Prevention Research Division at the National Disaster Management Research Institute under the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, presented on "AI-Based Smart Disaster Prevention Cities."
Jung Myunggeun, Mayor of Hwaseong, stated, "The launch of the advisory group is a key starting point for accelerating the AI transformation of the city and its industries, and for propelling Hwaseong City to become Korea's leading AI Basic City." He added, "We will apply AI technology in administrative and industrial settings to realize an AI Basic City that citizens can truly experience."
