The participants collected an amount of marine debris equivalent to over 100 large sacks, which was transported and processed on land using a cleanup vessel provided by the city.

In the afternoon, a "Blue Carbon Activation Forum" was held at the Chonnam National University Industry-Academic Research Building, jointly organized by Yeosu City, the Yeosu Sustainable Development Council, Yeosu Carbon Neutrality Support Center, and the Jeonnam Green Environment Support Center.

"Blue carbon" refers to carbon absorbed and stored by marine ecosystems such as tidal flats and seagrass beds. Yeosu City, which boasts abundant marine ecosystems, has been recognized for its high potential as a carbon sink, and there have been ongoing calls for related surveys and preservation measures.

During the forum, Professor Kim Eunsik of Chonnam National University presented the results of a survey on blue carbon absorption in Yeosu. Various opinions were also shared on ways to enhance marine carbon sinks in Yeosu, including those from Assemblyman Jeong Sinchul of Yeosu City Council, Kim Taehyung from the Jeonnam Research Institute, and Kim Taesik, Director at the Korea Fisheries Resources Agency.

A Yeosu City official stated, "We organized the marine cleanup and blue carbon forum to put into practice, together with citizens, the purpose of holding the 2026 Yeosu World Island Expo, which is to restore the natural environment of the islands," adding, "We hope that the atmosphere for a successful Expo will spread, based on voluntary citizen participation."
