Democratic Party Decides Not to Proceed with Criminal Procedure Act Amendment
Park Suhyeon: "Decision Made in Coordination with the Office of the President"
Regarding the Democratic Party of Korea's decision not to proceed with the so-called "trial suspension law," which would halt the trial of a sitting president, the Office of the President stated, "It has been the consistent position of the presidential office that such a bill is unnecessary."
Kang Yoojung, spokesperson for the Office of the President, made this statement during a briefing when asked whether the Democratic Party's decision not to pursue the trial suspension law reflected President Lee Jaemyung's intentions. Kang added, "Our position has not changed."
Earlier in the day, Chief Spokesperson Park Suhyeon explained in a briefing that the party leadership had decided not to push forward with the trial suspension law, stating, "This decision was made in coordination with the Office of the President."
