There were also presentations by Lee Heeil, Head of the Vector Analysis Division at the Korea Disease Control and Prevention Agency, on "Early Diagnosis and Vector Mosquito Management for Malaria Eradication," and Han Euntaek, Professor of Environmental Medical Biology at Kangwon National University College of Medicine, on "Surveillance and Response Strategies for Asymptomatic Malaria Infections."

The number of malaria patients in Gyeonggi Province this year was 305, a 22% decrease from 393 last year. The number of vector mosquitoes also fell by 56% to 10,178, compared to 23,220 last year. This is attributed to thorough management of patients and vectors by focusing and investing in high-incidence areas this year, such as Paju, Gimpo, and Goyang.

Yoo Youngcheol, Head of the Gyeonggi Province Malaria Eradication Task Force, said, "Both malaria patients and vector mosquitoes have decreased this year," adding, "We ask the public to continue following preventive measures, such as using mosquito repellent and wearing long sleeves during outdoor activities, as we aim to eradicate malaria by 2030."
