The headquarters announced on November 3 that it recently held the "Rural Stay-Type Shelter Living Lab Governance Meeting" together with the Jangsu-gun Regional Vitality Division, the headquarters of Korea Rural Community Corporation (Rural Spatial Planning Department), and the Regional Development Support Group.
The Living Lab is a field-oriented innovation platform in which experts from the public sector, local governments, academia, and the private sector participate to identify local issues on-site and experiment with and verify solutions.
This meeting was held to discuss field-oriented implementation strategies for the stay-type complex project and to develop a more effective and practical business plan.
Key topics discussed included: ▲ strengthening expertise through the participation of various experts; ▲ spatial composition and program operation plans based on actual user scenarios; and ▲ establishing an operational and management system for the stay-type shelter.
Furthermore, the participants agreed to continue sharing and improving outcomes and errors through ongoing participation, and to institutionalize the Living Lab not only during the project period but also throughout the operation and management phase after completion, thereby establishing a sustainable business operation and monitoring system.
Currently, Jangsu-gun is developing a comprehensive master plan for the "Jangsu Chi-Hyu Village Creation Project," a large-scale initiative that integrates the stay-type shelter complex project, the Youth Rural Housing Project, the Regional Vitality Town Project, and other county-led projects.
Through these efforts, the aim is to realize a phased rural settlement model that progresses from short-term stays to residency and permanent settlement, while also establishing a proactive response system to address the risk of rural depopulation.
An official from Korea Rural Community Corporation stated, "We will actively support the stay-type complex and related projects in Jangsu-gun so that they can become exemplary models for rural settlement through close cooperation with the county."
A Jangsu-gun official said, "We hope that this Living Lab will lead to a precise and effective business plan that reflects the unique characteristics and needs of Jangsu. We will continue to do our best to ensure the success of the project in collaboration with Korea Rural Community Corporation."
