Park Sugi, a Gwangju City Council member from the Democratic Party of Korea (representing Gwangsan District 5), held a book concert on November 1 at Oryong Hall of the Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology to celebrate the publication of her book, "Politics of Connection."

About 1,000 people, including citizens and young adults, attended.

About 1,000 people, including National Assembly members Min Hyungbae and Park Kyuntaek, Jeollanam-do Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs Kang Wiwon, fellow city council members, local figures, young people, and citizens, attended the event. The venue was so crowded that people filled not only the main hall but also the corridors and lobby, and there was a long line of attendees waiting to take photos with Councilor Park.


National Assembly Speaker Woo Wonshik, Democratic Party Floor Leader Kim Byungki, Supreme Council Member Han Junho, National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee Chairperson Choo Mi-ae, and National Assembly Member Lee Gwanghee sent congratulatory messages via video and written statements. Speaker Woo stated, "Councilor Park Sugi is a politician proven by her competence and hands-on experience," adding, "The politics of connection is the path to reviving the essence of democracy."


Councilor Park emphasized, "Politics of connection is about restoring broken conversations and fragmented systems. The development of a city is achieved not through technology, but through relationships. The essence of politics lies in connecting people." She continued, "This book is not just one person's story, but the story of Gwangju that we have built together. When we understand and connect with each other, that is when change in the city begins."

Assemblyman Min Hyungbae commented, "Councilor Park Sugi is a politician who transforms the field with her ability and trustworthiness," and evaluated that "the power of connection will open a new future for Gwangju." Jeollanam-do Deputy Governor for Economic Affairs Kang Wiwon remarked, "Politics is about people and is the art of relationships," and described "politics of connection" as "an appeal of our times to never lose our original intentions."


Councilor Park's book details field-oriented legislative activities such as enacting an ordinance to make Urban Planning Committee meetings public, AI-driven administrative innovation, policies to address youth outflow, and establishing governance for the future automobile industry. The author's philosophy, "At the center of reconnecting broken conversations, fragmented systems, and forgotten memories, there are always people," runs throughout the book.


Councilor Park, who is reportedly preparing to run for Gwangsan District Mayor next year, stated, "I will practice politics that connects the central and local governments, generations, and regions, and together with citizens, open a new path for Gwangsan."
