Over 6,100 Welfare Households to Be Surveyed
"Addressing Welfare Blind Spots"
Iksan City in North Jeolla Province will conduct the "2025 Second Half Social Security Benefit Regular Verification Survey" from November to December.
According to the city on November 3, this survey targets recipients and their obligors of 13 major welfare programs, including Basic Livelihood Security and Basic Pension. The survey will comprehensively review income, assets, and personal information to prevent fraudulent claims and address welfare blind spots.

The survey will cover approximately 6,100 welfare households. The city will closely verify the appropriateness of benefits based on 68 types of income and asset information received from 141 financial institutions and 20 public agencies.
To protect benefit recipients, the city will ensure sufficient opportunities for explanation and an appeals process during the survey. For households requiring benefit adjustments, the city will guide them to other available welfare programs to prevent any missed benefits.
Additionally, for households that do not receive actual support due to severed family relationships or refusal of support, the city will implement relief measures following a review by the Community Social Security Council. For households facing hardship among those whose benefits have been suspended, the city plans to connect them with public-private partnership resources to minimize welfare blind spots.
For those whose benefits have been suspended, the city provides intensive counseling and monitoring for the first three months. Afterward, risk-based monitoring is conducted once a month, once a quarter, or once a year per household, for up to three years.
Naeunjeong, Director of Welfare at Iksan City, stated, "We will thoroughly manage this verification survey to ensure it is conducted accurately and fairly. We will systematically handle appeals and explanations that may arise during the process and swiftly connect recipients to other available welfare programs to provide the best possible protection."
Meanwhile, the welfare recipient verification survey is a system designed to maintain the appropriateness of welfare benefits. The city conducts income and asset surveys twice a year, in the first and second half, to ensure the fairness and transparency of social security benefits.
