The Yangju City Career and College Admission Support Center organized a total of five university exploration programs throughout the first and second halves of this year, allowing students to visit actual universities, explore departments and majors in person, and further clarify their career paths.
This tour was conducted in partnership with major universities in the Seoul metropolitan area, including two visits to Seoul National University, as well as visits to Yonsei University, Korea University, and Sungkyunkwan University, with approximately 400 students participating.
In particular, participating students were grouped with current university student mentors, touring the campuses together and hearing firsthand accounts about university life, the characteristics of various departments, and the process of choosing a major.
Going beyond a simple campus tour, the program provided students with an opportunity to concretize their career directions and set goals for university admission, and this practical experience-based approach led to high satisfaction among participants.
One participating parent shared, "My child was able to think seriously about their future path by listening to real university students' experiences, rather than just reading books or searching the internet," adding, "Their motivation to pursue higher education has noticeably increased."
Additionally, one student commented, "Listening to my mentor senior talk about their department helped me specifically consider what I need to prepare for the future."
A Yangju City official stated, "This campus tour was of great help to youth in discovering their aptitudes and career paths and in planning for the future," and added, "We will continue to expand customized career and college admission programs tailored to the needs of young people."
Meanwhile, starting in the second half of the year, the Yangju City Career and College Admission Support Center is launching a new "one-on-one customized career and college admission consulting" program. Through specialized counseling that reflects each student's individual tendencies and career goals, the center aims to provide more systematic and practical support for career and college admissions.
