This expo is the first global battery industry business platform in North Gyeongsang Province led by a local government, and it is regarded as a significant event that will strengthen South Korea's global leadership in the battery sector.

The event is co-hosted by Pohang City and North Gyeongsang Province, organized by Pohang Technopark, and supported by the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Environment, the Korea Battery Industry Association, the North Gyeongsang Pohang Secondary Battery Industry Council, and the Nordic Trade and Investment Representative Office.

The opening ceremony was held at the POSTECH University Gymnasium, attended by more than 500 representatives from industry, academia, research, and government, including Pohang Mayor Lee Kangdeok, North Gyeongsang Province Vice Governor for Economic Affairs Yang Geumhee, National Assembly members Lee Sanghui and Lee Manhee, Pohang City Council Chairman Kim Ilman, and Energy Materials CEO Jeong Byeonghun.

Notably, key figures representing the domestic battery industry, such as Lee Dongchae, Executive Advisor of Ecopro, Kim Jaeyoung, CTO of LG Energy Solution, and Hong Youngjun, Vice President of POSCO Future M, participated in the opening performance, signaling the official start of the expo.

In addition, representatives from major secondary battery technology partner countries, including Germany, Norway, and Sweden, attended to express their hopes for a sustainable future for the global battery industry.

During the keynote speech, Kim Jaeyoung, CTO of LG Energy Solution, drew attention by presenting on "LG Energy Solution's Strategy for Leading Innovation," discussing next-generation battery technology innovation and global market strategies.

The main exhibition hall at the POSTECH University Gymnasium is divided into eight zones: Special Exhibition Zone, Materials and Components Zone, Equipment Zone, Technology and Commercialization Zone, Resource Circulation Zone, Service Zone, and Industry-Academia Cooperation Zone. A total of 36 companies, universities, and research institutes are operating more than 70 booths.

In particular, in the Special Exhibition Zone, Pohang's leading anchor companies, Ecopro and POSCO Future M, each operate promotional booths, symbolically showcasing the region's industrial competitiveness and technological capabilities.

Ecopro introduced its proprietary technology based on a 150,000-pyeong cathode material production complex and its mid- to long-term product development roadmap. The company also presented an eco-friendly circular economy model centered on a "Closed-Loop System" for battery resource recovery.

POSCO Future M showcased its unique domestic capability to integrate cathode and anode material production, as well as achievements in developing next-generation battery material technologies and supply chains to overcome the electric vehicle demand stagnation (chasm). The company highlighted its technological competitiveness through a new technology roadmap focused on high-performance cathode materials and high-efficiency anode materials.

Additionally, from the afternoon, the Change Up Ground hosted a series of professional conference sessions, starting with the Germany session and continuing with Norway and others over two days, broadening the scope of global technology cooperation and industry exchange. On the second day, Korea and global sessions will be held at the National Battery Resource Circulation Cluster.

Mayor Lee Kangdeok stated, "This expo is a venue for global industrial exchange to discuss and present the future of the battery industry, and it also presents Pohang's vision for future growth," adding, "We will do our utmost to ensure that Pohang rises as a global hub for the battery industry, not only in South Korea but worldwide."
