WSI announced on November 3 that it participated in the Korean Society of Emergency Medicine Autumn Conference (KSEM 2025), held at the Swiss Grand Hotel in Seoul from October 30 to 31, where it unveiled a new disposable bronchoscope as part of its cardiovascular medical device business.
WSI showcased a disposable bronchoscope at the Korean Society of Emergency Medicine Autumn Conference (KSEM 2025). WSI.
At this conference, WSI attracted significant attention by exhibiting the disposable bronchoscope alongside central venous catheters and peripherally inserted central catheters from the UK-based Kimal, which it introduced as new products in the cardiovascular interventional medical device business starting in 2024. The disposable bronchoscope, in particular, is highly regarded for its synergy with key emergency medicine customers, as it is used for emergency airway intubation, bronchoscopy, and therapeutic procedures.
The disposable bronchoscope market is rapidly expanding, driven by solutions that prevent cross-infection among patients with respiratory diseases such as COVID-19, reduce time and costs associated with cleaning and disinfection, and alleviate the burden of investing in expensive equipment costing over 100 million won. According to a Grand View Research report, the global disposable bronchoscope market is estimated to reach approximately 900 billion won by 2025, with an average annual growth rate of 9%, and is projected to grow to 1.2 trillion won by 2032.
The newly launched disposable bronchoscope by WSI is a product of Hugemed, a company based in Shenzhen, China. Founded in 2014, Hugemed has achieved annual growth rates exceeding 50% and has obtained both U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and European CE certifications, with its products now used in over 100 countries worldwide.
Hugemed's disposable endoscopes are available in a variety of sizes and, notably, include models specifically designed for pediatric and neonatal use-an offering not available from competitors-giving the company a competitive edge. WSI plans to expand its cardiovascular interventional medical device business with the launch of this new product.
A WSI representative stated, "The disposable bronchoscope meets hospitals' needs in terms of infection control and cost efficiency. We plan to expand our cardiovascular interventional medical device business by leveraging the emergency medicine and intensive care unit networks established through our existing catheter business."
