Enhancing Residents' Convenience and Conserving Resources
On November 3, Gangbuk District in Seoul (District Mayor Lee Soonhee) announced that it is operating a free rental service for daily-use shared items in order to improve residents' convenience and reduce resource waste.
The district is currently running the sharing and rental service across three main categories: household tools, umbrella sharing, and camping equipment. Residents can borrow around 20 types of household tools-including combination drills, nippers, ladders, and saws-for free for up to three days and two nights. To use the service, residents simply need to bring identification to their nearest community service center or visit the Gangbuk, Youth, or Solsaem Cultural Information Libraries.
Additionally, an "umbrella sharing service" is available to help residents prepare for rainy weather. Umbrellas can be borrowed free of charge for up to two days and one night from the main district office, 13 community service centers, the public health center, cultural information libraries, Gangbuk Wellbeing Sports Center, and Gangbuk Culture & Arts Center.
There is also a camping table and chair rental service to support family outings. The rental period is three days and two nights, and reservations can be made online through the Beon 2-dong or Ui-dong community centers, as well as via the Sharing Nuri and Sharing Hub websites.
Lee Soonhee, Mayor of Gangbuk District, stated, "I hope the culture of sharing and saving in daily life will continue to spread," adding, "We will continue to promote various sharing initiatives to enhance residents' convenience and conserve resources."
