Attorney Says, "Records Are Insufficient, Was Arrest Really Necessary?"
On November 2, representatives of former Korea Communications Commission Chairperson Lee Jinsook, who had been arrested by the police on charges including violations of the Public Official Election Act and later released, made public the police suspect interrogation records.

Im Mooyoung, the attorney representing former Chairperson Lee, released three suspect interrogation records containing Lee's statements through social media on the same day.
Attorney Im stated, "The contents of the records are very insubstantial and merely repeat previous questions," adding, "We are making the records public in order to seek judgment on whether three rounds of questioning were truly necessary to the extent of making an arrest."
According to the records, the police focused their questioning on the intention behind Lee's appearances on a conservative-leaning YouTube channel and her posts on social media since last year, during her tenure as Chairperson of the Korea Communications Commission.
In response, former Chairperson Lee stated, "Out of a sense of desperation, I appealed to Lee Jaemyung, then leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, who had the ability to resolve the 'two-person system' at the Korea Communications Commission," clarifying that her intention was not to oppose the Democratic Party.
Lee's representatives are considering filing a complaint against the police investigator in charge for alleged abuse of authority. After completing the third round of questioning on October 27, the police plan to refer former Chairperson Lee to the prosecution without detention in the near future.
