Anti-Government Protests Escalate into Violent Unrest
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced that, effective 6:00 p.m. KST on November 2, a special travel advisory will be issued for Tanzania.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs explained that, following the presidential and general elections held in Tanzania on October 29, anti-government protests have escalated into violent unrest, resulting in unstable local security conditions.
The special travel advisory applies to all regions of Tanzania except for Mtwara Region, where Level 3 (Recommendation to Leave) travel warning is already in effect.
The special travel advisory is issued in situations of urgent and short-term danger. It recommends precautions equivalent to or greater than Level 2 (Caution for Travelers) but less than Level 3.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs urged citizens planning to visit the affected areas to cancel or postpone their trips unless absolutely necessary, and advised those already staying in Tanzania to pay particular attention to their personal safety.
