Gyeonggi Province to Conduct Focused Inspections of Vulnerable Facilities for Heavy Snowfall Preparedness Until November 20

The Gyeonggi Provincial Government will conduct a "Focused Inspection of Vulnerable Facilities for Heavy Snowfall Preparedness" until November 20 to prevent loss of life and property damage caused by heavy snowfall during the winter season.

The inspection targets a total of 18 types of facilities that are vulnerable to heavy snow, including agricultural and fisheries markets-which suffered large-scale facility damage last winter-as well as traditional markets, PEB (Pre-Engineered Building) structures, greenhouses, livestock barns, hazardous trees, and others designated by each city and county.

Prior to this, the Gyeonggi Provincial Government established facility-specific inspection plans tailored to the conditions of each site by October 30.

For facilities found to be at risk as a result of the inspections, the province plans to establish separate response plans and manage them to ensure prompt action is taken before major snowfall occurs.

The main inspection items include: ▲ risk of collapse due to aging structures during snowfall ▲ structural stability in preparation for heavy or wet snow ▲ whether dangerous facilities have been dismantled or addressed based on snow load ▲ whether emergency contact systems are established and whether thorough safety management guidance is provided.

Lee Jongdon, Director of Safety Management at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government, stated, "This comprehensive inspection is a proactive measure to protect residents' lives and property from similar types of damage. This winter as well, we will adhere to the principle of 'over-response in disaster management' and do our utmost to ensure residents' safety through swift, on-site decision-making and bold execution."

Meanwhile, in November last year, record-breaking snowfall caused significant loss of life and 391.9 billion won in facility damage across the entire province.
