'2025 Gyeonghwa-dong Anabada Harmony Festival' Held at Changwon Gyeonghwa Station
Osaekgangjeong Sharing and Upcycling Experiences Draw Attention
On October 25, as the autumn atmosphere settled deeply, the '2025 Gyeonghwa-dong Anabada Harmony Festival' held around Changwon Gyeonghwa Station concluded successfully.
Hosted by the Gyeonghwa-dong Residents' Association, this festival established itself as a community event by combining a flea market, hands-on booths, a residents’ sharing market, and performance programs.
One of the most popular spots at the venue was the Experience and Promotion Booth of the Nikangnaekang Village Management Social Cooperative, which leads local urban regeneration efforts.
The cooperative offered participatory programs that could be enjoyed by all generations, from children to seniors, such as upcycling experiences, making wooden magnets, and the Osaekgangjeong Sharing Event.
In particular, the 'Osaekgangjeong Sharing,' prepared directly by cooperative members as part of the recognized urban regeneration project, added a warm local touch.
Additionally, upcycling education linked to the Gyeongnam Resource Circulation Village Project provided a meaningful opportunity to experience a sustainable lifestyle by giving new value to discarded resources.
The Nikangnaekang Social Cooperative operates the Nikangnaekang Dagachi Center, a local community hub, and has been enhancing its expertise by continuously completing capacity-building training in cooperation with the Changwon Urban Regeneration Support Center since 2022.
This year, the cooperative is focusing on the 'Senior Self-Health Care' education program to improve the health of the elderly in the community, aiming to establish a local care model where seniors can manage their own health.
The Nikangnaekang Center, scheduled for completion in the second half of 2026, is expected to expand its role as a resident-led care, culture, and sharing space, with the goal of becoming the 'Gyeonghwa-dong Community Platform for the Age of 100.'
Choi Sookyi, Chairperson of the Nikangnaekang Village Management Social Cooperative, said, "This festival was a meaningful occasion where we practiced the core values of urban regeneration and resource circulation together with the residents," and added, "We will continue to expand our cooperative network and strengthen local care and environmental education to improve residents' quality of life."
