"SpaceX Set to Secure $2 Billion Contract for U.S. Department of Defense 'Golden Dome'"

"Expanding Influence in the National Security Sector"

SpaceX, the space company, is expected to win a satellite contract to support the United States' next-generation missile defense network, the "Golden Dome," according to a report by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) on October 31 (local time).

WSJ, citing sources, reported that SpaceX is set to sign a contract worth 2 billion dollars to develop satellites capable of tracking missiles and aircraft under the U.S. Department of Defense's Golden Dome project.

Some officials explained that the "Airborne Moving Target Indicator (AMTI)" system, planned as part of this project, could ultimately deploy up to 600 satellites. Additionally, they noted that SpaceX is expected to play a key role in building two other satellite networks for the Department of Defense: the military confidential communications relay system known as "Milnet," and a satellite system capable of tracking ground vehicles.

WSJ pointed out that the momentum gained through this large-scale satellite fleet is another sign that SpaceX is steadily expanding its influence in the U.S. national security sector.

However, WSJ also reported that many U.S. military leaders and politicians are concerned about relying too heavily on SpaceX for the national security satellite network. Republican Senator Rick Scott recently stated that, as the Trump administration's missile defense system takes shape, he will continue to promote competition among related companies, emphasizing, "I do not want a situation where we pick a single company and follow only that path."
