"Requested a Korean Flight Attendant, But Labeled as Problematic Behavior"
"Received Apology from Airline... Will Address Baseless Rumors and False Claims"
Singer Soyou revealed that she received an official apology from the airline regarding the incident in which she claimed to have experienced racial discrimination on board a Delta Air Lines flight in the United States.
On October 31, Soyou posted on her social media account, stating, "I reported the inconvenience I experienced on my return flight by submitting a written complaint just before landing, and I recently received an official apology from Delta Air Lines via email."
She went on to express her gratitude, saying, "Thanks to those who empathized with my feelings at the time and sent their support, I was able to return to my daily life."
Soyou had previously claimed that she was subjected to discriminatory treatment by a flight attendant on her flight from New York to Korea on October 19.

At the time, Soyou, feeling tired, requested a Korean flight attendant to check the meal schedule. However, the chief purser regarded this as problematic behavior and called for a security officer. She explained that she felt uncomfortable throughout the flight due to the cold stares she received afterward.
Soyou stated, "I was unable to eat anything during the 15-hour flight, and this experience has left a scar rooted in racial prejudice."
However, after the incident, rumors spread online alleging that Soyou had boarded the flight in a drunken state, further fueling controversy. In response, Soyou refuted the claims, saying, "I only had a small amount of alcohol in the lounge before boarding, and there were no restrictions or issues during the boarding process." The netizen who posted the eyewitness account later deleted their post, and the dispute over the truth continued.
Soyou stated that she does not plan to discuss the incident more publicly following the apology. However, she warned, "I will take legal action against baseless speculation, the spread of false information, and defamatory statements that infringe upon my personal rights." She added, "I will correct the facts, but from now on, I hope to return with good news."
Meanwhile, back in 2023, Hyeri, a former member of the group Girl's Day, also revealed that she had an unpleasant experience while using this airline.
Hyeri, who had booked a flight from Los Angeles to New York, said, "I made the reservation a month and a half in advance and even selected my seat, but I was downgraded to economy class because there were no first-class seats available." She added, "The airline refused to issue a refund and told me to take the next flight if I was not satisfied with my seat."
