"Prosecution Must Admit Fabricated Indictment and Immediately Withdraw Charges"
On October 31, the Democratic Party of Korea asserted that President Lee Jaemyung is clearly innocent in connection with the guilty verdicts handed down in the first trial to private developers implicated in the Daejang-dong development corruption scandal, stating, "President Lee, who was indicted for breach of trust in this case, is clearly not guilty."

Park Suhyeon, Chief Spokesperson of the Democratic Party, stated in a commentary, "In the trial, the court addressed suspicions of President Lee and the developers' involvement by saying, '(At the time, Seongnam Mayor Lee Jaemyung) appears to have been able to relatively freely decide on the method of land acquisition without knowing the extent of collusion between Yoo Donggyu and the private developers.'"
Chief Spokesperson Park emphasized, "The court effectively did not acknowledge any collusive relationship between President Lee and the Daejang-dong case," and strongly urged, "It is not too late for the prosecution to admit the fabricated indictment against President Lee and immediately withdraw the charges."
Previously, the 22nd Criminal Division of the Seoul Central District Court (Presiding Judge Cho Hyungwoo) handed down heavy sentences to private developers and Yoo Donggyu, former Planning Director of Seongnam Urban Development Corporation, who were indicted on charges including aggravated breach of trust under the Act on the Aggravated Punishment of Specific Economic Crimes.
