At the ABAC working luncheon with leaders from various countries held at Gyeongju Hwabaek Convention Center in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, President Lee stated, "The Korean economy will achieve growth and a new leap forward," reaffirming his confidence.
ABAC, a private advisory body established in 1995, has annually engaged in dialogue with APEC leaders to hear their views on economic cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region and to convey recommendations from business leaders.
President Lee said, "The direction of the Republic of Korea, which will lead cooperation and solidarity and usher in an era of prosperity, is clear." He continued, "When I was inaugurated as president this past June, I promised the Korean people that I would establish a 'pragmatic market-oriented' government."
He added, "To fulfill this promise, we are boldly streamlining unnecessary regulations and significantly expanding support for future industries," noting, "These efforts will be pursued both domestically and internationally."
President Lee explained, "As the APEC chair this year, Korea has reviewed the implementation of previously agreed items in various fields such as services, the digital economy, investment promotion, and structural reform, and has developed new action plans that reflect the changing environment." He further stated, "Through even stronger public-private cooperation, we have faithfully reflected the needs of the business sector and designed policies so that everyone can equally enjoy the opportunities and rewards of growth."
President Lee also said, "I believe the prosperity and future of the Asia-Pacific region depend on the spirit of challenge demonstrated by many business leaders," adding, "Myself and the APEC leaders will spare no effort or support so that you can interact more freely and continue to innovate without fear."
President Lee remarked, "Over the past 20 years, APEC and ABAC have overcome many hardships together, turning crises into opportunities." He continued, "Now, as uncertainty increases across the global economy, the value of the cooperation built by APEC and ABAC will shine even brighter."
