The Korea Wind Energy Industry Association and the Taiwan Offshore Wind Industry Association have joined forces to strengthen their influence in the Asia-Pacific region and advance the wind energy industries of both countries.

On October 31, at the Courtyard Taipei Hotel in Taiwan, the Korea Wind Energy Industry Association signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for mutual cooperation with the Taiwan Offshore Wind Industry Association (TOWIA) during the "2025 Asia-Pacific Offshore Wind Regional Partnership Forum."

This MOU aims to establish a close cooperative relationship between the two associations, which represent the wind energy sectors of their respective countries, in order to strengthen the offshore wind industry and supply chain networks of both Korea and Taiwan. It also focuses on expanding opportunities for technology exchange and mutual investment, thereby promoting business development opportunities for member companies of both associations.

Specifically, the two associations agreed to: ▲ create business opportunities and support supply chain cooperation for offshore wind technology development and market expansion; ▲ regularly exchange information, knowledge, and experience in various fields related to the offshore wind industry; ▲ jointly host seminars, workshops, site visits, and networking events on a regular or mutually agreed schedule; and ▲ pursue joint initiatives to promote the sustainable development and leadership of the offshore wind industry in Asia.

A representative from the Korea Wind Energy Industry Association explained, "In particular, the signing of this MOU is significant as it lays the groundwork for Asia-Pacific countries to increase their influence in a wind energy market that has been centered on Europe."

Wind energy associations from Korea, Taiwan, and Japan have recently signed similar business agreements, thereby establishing a multilateral cooperative relationship.

At the "2025 Offshore Wind and Supply Chain Conference & Exhibition" held at BEXCO in Busan in July, the Korea Wind Energy Industry Association signed a business agreement with the Japan Wind Power Association (JWPA), while TOWIA signed a separate agreement with JWPA at the "Global Offshore Wind Summit - Japan 2025" held in Japan on the 15th.

The wind energy associations of both countries, including the Korea Wind Energy Industry Association, plan to continue expanding their cooperation with Asia-Pacific countries and lead the activation of the wind energy industry centered on the Asia-Pacific region.

Sung Jin-ki, Executive Vice President of the Korea Wind Energy Industry Association, stated, "Taiwan is a country that has rapidly developed its offshore wind industry, and there is much that Korea, which is now driving its own offshore wind policies, can learn. Based on this MOU, we will cooperate for the mutual benefit of our member companies and become a leading force in the Asia-Pacific wind energy industry."

Viola Lin, Chairwoman of TOWIA, said, "Although the offshore wind industries of various Asian countries are developing at different speeds, we all share the same vision of growth. Through this MOU, I look forward to having deeper conversations and exchanging experiences with our regional partners."
