Meeting with World Leaders and Global CEOs at the CEO Summit
Exploring Global Networking and Cooperation Strategies
Shin Dongbin, Chairman of Lotte Group, attended the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) CEO Summit held in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, starting from October 28. During the event, he met with heads of state and CEOs of global companies to discuss business issues and cooperation strategies.
According to Lotte Group on October 31, Chairman Shin met with Leong Kuong, President of Vietnam, the previous day to explore opportunities for cooperation in local business, as the company is actively expanding its operations in Vietnam.

During the meeting, Chairman Shin stated, "Currently, Lotte Group has invested more than 40 trillion dong (approximately 2.17 trillion won) and is operating businesses in various sectors such as retail and food. Moving forward, we will continue to create local jobs, maintain investment cooperation, and further strengthen trust with Vietnam." President Leong Kuong of Vietnam responded, "The Vietnamese government will actively review Lotte's related proposals."
Since the 1990s, Lotte has expanded its business in Vietnam from food service to retail, hotels, cinemas, and more. Notably, Lotte Mall West Lake Hanoi, which opened in September 2023, has established itself as a landmark and a central hub for shopping and culture in Hanoi, surpassing 25 million cumulative visitors within two years of its opening. Lotte GRS has also become a leading company in the Vietnamese franchise industry through its localization strategy.
On the same day, Chairman Shin discussed the current status of the retail business and future cooperation with Christopher Luxon, Prime Minister of New Zealand. On October 29, he also met with Matt Garman, CEO of Amazon Web Services (AWS), to discuss integrating artificial intelligence (AI) into the retail sector and utilizing customer big data.
