Kim Hye-kyung, wife of President Lee Jae-myung, had a friendly conversation with Diana Carney, wife of the Canadian Prime Minister, in Gyeongju, North Gyeongsang Province, where the 2025 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit is being held.

On the 30th, Jeon Eun-su, Deputy Spokesperson for the Presidential Office, said in a written briefing, "Mrs. Kim Hye-kyung expressed her delight at seeing Mrs. Carney again at the Gyeongju National Museum, after having met her previously at the United Nations General Assembly, the ASEAN Summit, and the Hanbok fashion show the day before. She said it felt like meeting a friend."

In response, Mrs. Carney said, "I have always wanted to visit Korea, and I am very pleased that I was able to come for APEC." She also complimented Mrs. Kim, who was wearing a Hanbok, saying, "The traditional attire suits you very well and looks truly beautiful."

Mrs. Kim replied, "I am wearing Hanbok, the traditional attire of Korea, during APEC to help promote it. Today, I chose colors that especially symbolize the Canadian flag."

Mrs. Carney said, "My daughter is very interested in Korea. She especially wanted K-beauty products, so she gave me a shopping list for a store called Olive Young." Mrs. Kim responded, "I was planning to recommend K-beauty products as souvenirs for your friends, but it seems you have already purchased them," expressing her gratitude for the interest in Korean cosmetics.

When Mrs. Carney mentioned, "I had Korean food near Woljeonggyo and it was very delicious," Mrs. Kim replied, "I enjoy cooking, so if there is another opportunity, I would love to prepare your favorite dishes for you myself." Mrs. Carney responded, "I like pumpkin soup, and I understand that you have already published a cookbook."

Meanwhile, Gyeongju barley coffee and Hwangnam bread were served during the meeting.
